Measures to Support Accessibility

Sista Creatives Rising takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of Sista Creatives Rising:

​

• Include AccessiBe accessWidget to ensure compliance

• Include accessibility as part of our mission.

• Include accessibility throughout our internal policies.

• Assign clear accessibility goals and responsibilities – using captioning in featured videos and alt text and descriptive descriptions for detailed artworks. For future live events we plan to use an ASL interpreter and live captioning.

 

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. With the help of AccessiBe, Sista Creatives Rising is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. See below:

 Unfortunately our recording of our live reception video for “Art & Mind” 2021 lacked captioning due to a glitched while using Zoom. This is why we plan to utilize ASL interpretation for our future events, and find ways to ensure this glitch doesn’t occur again.
